IPX

The GSM Association's IP eXchange (IPX) model provides a multilateral environment for IP interconnect that brings mobile network operators (MNOs), fixed network operators, application service providers and enterprises together for high-quality, low-cost peering. IPX enables mobile carriers to bypass high cost, low capacity TDM circuits and converge voice, SMS, MMS and future IMS multimedia traffic onto a common IP infrastructure to deliver the best margins on voice and data roaming and interconnect traffic across multilateral interconnects.

Maximize the benefits of IPX interconnect
The Sonus IPX is an IPX Proxy solution that delivers everything MNOs need to maximize the benefits of IPX interconnect: robust transcoding, carrier-class security, wide network interoperability and granular QoS control.

A secure and sophisticated solution that:

  • Addresses the four cornerstones of GSMA's IPX model: open standards, session quality, security and cascading payment support.
  • Supports multiple signaling standards (SIP, SIP-I, BICC, H.323) and international standards (ETSI, ITU, ANSI ISUP, ISDN).
  • Enables IPX hub operators to deliver and IPX Proxy and Packet Voice Interworking (PVI) interconnect platform, supporting multiple signaling standards (SIP, SIP-I, BICC CS2 (R8), H.323) and network interworking (MNO, FNO (NGN), IMS, MMD and Enterprise).
  • Supports legacy TDM interoperablity in multiple national and international standards (ETSI, ITU, ANSI ISUP and ISDN).

Leverage the benefits of end-to-end IP connectivity
With the Sonus NBS, mobile operators can leverage the benefits of end-to-end IP connectivity for secure international roaming and national peering traffic.
